A Neighborhood Massage Studio in Forest Grove

One room at a time, on the east side of town, seven days a week. Here is what we actually do and how we do it.

The studio

Suite 300, and a free parking lot

West Valley Massage is a small independent studio at 1911 Mountain View Ln #300 in Forest Grove, Oregon. It is Suite 300 of a professional building at the corner of 19th Avenue and Mountain View Lane, shared with a dental practice, an orthodontist, a counseling practice and a chiropractor. There is a lot at the door with no meters and nothing to validate.

It is a block and a half south of Pacific Avenue, which is OR-8 — the TV Highway — at this point, and a few blocks west of the Cornelius city line. That makes this the last commercial block of Forest Grove heading east, so anyone driving in from Cornelius, Hillsboro or further down the valley reaches us before they reach downtown.

We are open from nine in the morning until eight at night, every day of the week, including Sunday. That is unusual around here and it is deliberate: most people who want a massage want it in an evening or on a weekend, which is exactly when a lot of studios are shut.

How we work

Four services, one price each, no upsell

The menu is 4 services — Body, Local, Combo and Foot — across 11 lengths, and the cheapest thing on it is $40. There is one price per session. Not a member price and a non-member price, not a junior rate and a senior rate, and not a fifty-minute session described as an hour. You will not be sold anything at the table.

What changes between one session and the next is technique, and that is a conversation rather than a checkbox. You book a length; you and your therapist decide the pressure, the pace and where the time goes. If it is wrong ten minutes in, saying so is expected — it is the most useful thing a client can do.

What a visit looks like

Arrive a few minutes early, or five to ten on a first visit. There is a waiting area with chairs.
A short conversation: what hurts, what you want from the session, anything we should avoid.
You undress to whatever level you are comfortable with, alone in the room, and get under the sheet.
You stay draped the entire time. Only the area being worked is uncovered.
Water afterwards, no rush to get up, and no sales pitch on the way out.

Credentials

How Oregon licenses massage

Massage is a licensed profession in Oregon, and the bar is not low. The Oregon State Board of Massage Therapists requires 625 hours of training from an approved school, a board-approved national exam, a separate Oregon law exam, current Basic Life Support certification, a criminal background check, and 25 hours of continuing education every two-year renewal cycle. The studio itself must hold a Board-issued facility permit, which is a separate credential from any individual therapist's license.

You do not have to take anyone's word for any of that. The Board runs a free public lookup where you can check an individual license or a facility permit by name, business name or number — for us or for anyone else you are considering.

West Valley Massage is a relaxation and wellness studio, not a medical provider. Massage supports relaxation and general well-being; it does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Talk with your doctor about pain that is new, severe, or not improving.

The basics, answered

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

Both work. We take walk-ins every day whenever a table is free, and plenty of people simply come in. A phone call five minutes ahead turns a maybe into a yes, because whether we can take you depends on who is free at that moment. The two things that rarely work as a walk-in are couples and four hands, since both need two therapists at once.

What are your hours?

We are open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day of the week, including Sunday. There is no day we are closed. Online booking runs around the clock, so you can reserve a same-day session at any hour.

How much does a massage cost?

A 60-minute body massage is $80 and a 90-minute is $120. A 30-minute foot massage is $40 and a full hour is $70. A combo session, half body work and half foot work, is $75 for 60 minutes. There is one price per service and it is the same whether you pay by card or cash — no membership rate, no non-member rate, and no surcharge for a more experienced therapist.

Is gratuity included?

No, and it is not expected. The price you see is the price of the session. If you want to leave something you are welcome to, but nobody will think anything of it if you do not.

What is the difference between Body Massage and Local Massage?

A Body Massage covers the whole body — back, shoulders, arms, legs, feet and neck — at whatever pressure you ask for. A Local Massage spends the entire session on one area instead: the neck and shoulders, the low back and hip, or one leg. It is slower, more detailed work, which is why an hour of it costs $100 against $80 for a full-body hour.
